I am here for you, Girlfriend. Let’s do THIS!
I learn new things and do market research daily on Autoimmune Diseases, Hormones, PCOS, Adrenal Fatigue, and Hypothyroidism. I was diagnosed in 2003 with Hypothyroidism, and in 2007 with PCOS. I have experienced just about every symptom you can imagine.
Brain Fog, weight gain, extreme fatigue, infertility (the big one that stings hard for me), anxiety, hair loss, cold intolerance, crazy whacked out hormone imbalance, and many more. The issues were unbearable with extreme fatigue. I was so tired I just fell asleep for hours, and some days did not wake up until the next day.
The very first day I knew, I was laying on the couch and I truly felt drunk, or like I was given something to cloud me completely. I could not move or get up. It was very alarming, and I knew something was very wrong. So, the next day I went to my family doctor to get tested. I was not told anything that day at all. About a week later, I received a letter in the mail stating I had a thyroid imbalance and could not produce enough of the thyroid hormone, so I needed to take a pill for the rest of my life.
Um, what? I was disgusted. No phone call. No doctor follow up. I was on my own. Thanks, Doc. At the time, I just accepted it, and that was it.
Enter Hypothyroidism.
I had no clue what it was and didn’t know anything about my thyroid, or what it even was. I was like, ok, so this sucks. I have to take a prescription to get my levels back to normal, but can’t ever go off this medication. Ugh! I really felt there were no options at that point, so I went with it. I took Synthroid for years. My TSH levels were back to normal for a very short time, but the symptoms remained.
Do you know when certain things happen to you in life and you just Deal? You just go with it. That was me. I am optimistic, and always trusted it would work itself out. In all honesty, I can handle just about anything with any struggle or obstacle in life, and be pushed, and pushed, and pushed a little more. I guess that makes me a warrior. But, after going through mind-blowing symptoms for a long period of time, at least for me, when it gets to that level and I am pushed over the edge, I am fricking DONE. That is what happened to me, and I was over it.
I was going to find my answers and do something about this ASAP. Did I wait too long? Absolutely. But that is ok because I am in a place now that I never thought I would be in. I went to the internet and other sources with books, doctors, etc., and researched many things on my specific disorders, and tried to find solutions.
I decided to take a 3-week fitness and nutrition challenge to get back on track, or at least get it started. It involved getting on a nutrition program, specific workout regimen, and cutting out the crap. Being conscious of what I was doing on a daily basis with my meals, and exercise helped too! I was stoked and it helped me so much. It changed my life FOREVER. It truly did. I learned so much that was WRONG with my lifestyle, and what I was doing was insane. I used to eat and drink whatever I wanted, never exercised, had zero self-care or self-love, and thought that was ok. I was lost, not confident, felt like total crap every day, stuck in a rut, and didn’t seem to acknowledge any of it. I acted like that was normal.
DUDE! So NOT Normal. What was I thinking? Severe brain fog, anxiety, weight gain, freezing all the time, & zero motivation. Those were my Top 5.
If I ever wanted MY normal back, I had to jump on this train quick, and never look back. I tried little things slowly at first and tested them out. And tested them again. And again. Testing meals and planning out my daily nutrition, adding a shit ton of h20, and moving my body most of the day was a great start! Baby steps. Everyone has a different body, different circumstances, different nutritional needs specific to their body weight, blood type, and 50 other things.
We are all different, so what worked for me, might look completely different for you. But, that is the beauty of it. Just START. We all begin in the same place. Never give up, and never stop until you get the personal, physical, and mental clarity/results you need. I am here to help! It has become my absolute mission to help you reach your goals and get the best version of YOU running back through the door. I will say that proper fitness and nutrition are both very important when you are trying to heal your thyroid and to get those lovely hormones under control.
Full panel hypothyroid testing with a doctor is super important as well, and this can check things out on so many levels, and see what you are lacking for your thyroid, and with your nutrition in general. I also wanted to take a more holistic and natural approach to heal myself, so this also took a minute and a ton of research. This all takes precious time, discipline, patience, and persistence. And most of the time the motivation comes from within. It is all inside you. If you want to change, it is time to take a long, hard look at yourself.
YOU have to make the changes. No one else can do it. Is it hard to deal with some days? Absolutely YES. But you have to keep pushing. Your happiness and the way you feel is the ultimate importance. You are worth it. The healing process is just that. A process. You must trust it. It takes time, but you will get there!
